Albion Chelated Magnesium & Calcium Albion Chelated Magnesium & Calcium

Albion Chelated Magnesium & Calcium is a dietary supplement which contains the optimal proportions of magnesium and calcium (2:1) with the addition of vitamins D and K2. The product combines synergistically acting vitamins and minerals which support the nervous system and are essential for the health of the osteo-muscular system.

The highest absorption and bioavailability of ingredients is ensured by their form. Both calcium and magnesium are present in the form of amino acid chelates Albion®. This is a patented combination of mineral particle with two molecules of the amino acid, of very high chemical stability and absorption. The mineral delivered to the body system in such form is quickly absorbed, does not require a transformation into organic form and can be used immediately.

Magnesium and calcium are closely cooperating and some of the most important minerals for the proper functioning of the body system. Magnesium is present in every tissue of the body system, while calcium accumulates mainly in the bones. Both elements are involved in almost all physiological processes and are important co-factors for many biochemical reactions.

Both magnesium and calcium are essential for bone mineralisation and development. Calcium is commonly identified with healthy and strong bones. It prevents bone demineralisation and stimulates the release of calcitonin, which regulates calcium consumption and its delivery to bone tissue. The presence of magnesium ensures that calcium will be properly absorbed in the bones and it will not be stored in the soft tissues of the body system.

Magnesium deficiency causes a slowdown in the ionic exchanges and contributes to bone ageing. It also promotes the precipitation of calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystals. This dangerous process leads to the formation of calcifications in cartilage tissue and is the cause of numerous ailments of the articular system.

Moreover, magnesium stimulates osteoblast activity and activates the process of ossification. It affects many enzymes belonging to the phosphatase group, which are responsible for the process of bone formation. It is the fundamental building material of bone matrix; the studies have demonstrated that already the increase in the magnesium content in the bones by 1% doubles the bone density. Magnesium present in the bones makes them stronger and increases their resistance to fractures.

Magnesium and calcium affect the functioning of the nervous system. Magnesium shows sedatives properties and reduces excitability of nerve cells. Its activity is strongly correlated with calcium. In the nerve endings, magnesium ions compete with calcium ions, preventing from excessive stimulation. In these processes, the proportions of calcium and magnesium are extremely important. To the proper functioning of the nervous system, the relationship between magnesium and calcium should be at least 2:1.

Both elements are involved in the functioning of the muscular system. Magnesium is responsible mainly for muscle relaxation, while calcium is a prerequisite for their proper contraction. Calcium and magnesium deficiencies lead to dysfunctions in the muscular system; the symptoms of too low magnesium levels are eyelid twitching and contractions of calf muscles, while calcium deficiency is associated with so called tetany (involuntary muscle twitching and contraction). Complementing calcium and magnesium deficiencies usually effectively reduces such ailments.

Vitamins D3 and K2 are two vitamins extremely important for health. They are involved in many processes in the body system. Vitamin D3 improves immunity, affects cell division and the muscular system, while vitamin K is mostly associated with the process of blood clotting.

Together, both vitamins regulate the calcium balance in the body system. Supplementation with vitamins D3 and K2 is essential to avoid so called calcium paradox. In such a situation, the total level of calcium in the bloodstream seems to be correct, but its distribution in the body system is impaired. Calcium, instead of reaching its destination, that is bones and teeth, begins to accumulate in the soft tissues, joints and organs (e.g. in the kidneys). Deposition of calcium in the arteries is extremely dangerous; calcium deposits make up a large part of the atherosclerotic plaques that close the blood vessels bore and can be the cause of heart attack or stroke.

A properly high level of vitamin D3 is essential for the proper conduction of the process of calcium absorption in the body system. Vitamin K2 guarantees that calcium will reach its destination in the body system. So called Matrix GLA Proteins (MGP) are responsible for the calcium transport in the body system. This process is dependent on vitamin K2, which is an activator of MGP proteins. Thanks to that, the MGP proteins catch calcium molecules, treat them with osteocalcin and build into bones and teeth. Studies have demonstrated that vitamin K2 can even undo the calcification of the arteries; the calcium stored in arteries, when treated with vitamin K2, leaves the arteries and goes right to its destination in the body system.

A group of proteins involved in the calcium metabolism (mainly osteocalcins and calbindin responsible for calcium binding) is also affected by vitamin D3. Moreover, it is essential for the proper development and functioning of the osteoblasts. This cell group is of greatest importance for the proper formation of bones and for the processes of bone knitting after fractures.

Albion Chelated Magnesium & Calcium is a unique formula which contains the core synergistically acting substances in the perfectly selected forms and proportions. The product aims at the support for the skeletal system; it strengthens bones, protects them from demineralisation and prevents osteoporosis. It effectively complements deficiencies of core vitamins and minerals, regulates calcium balance in the body system and is an excellent element in the prevention of atherosclerosis.
