Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate

Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate is a product containing magnesium and potassium in the form of an organic aspartate compounds. Both elements participate in many processes in the organism, thanks to which they play an essential role in the functioning of the entire system. The addition of taurine has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the circulatory and central nervous systems.

Taurine is thought to be an amino acid that can act as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. In this product it plays the role of a component with a strong synergic activity.

The main function of potassium is maintaining the electrolyte balance. The element is the main intracellular cation in the system; it creates the resting and action potentials of nerve cells and constitutes a component of the sodium-potassium pump that maintains the ion balance inside and outside a cell.

Magnesium is one of the most important elements for the organism and one of the principal intracellular cations. It participates in carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism, in the reaction of glycolysis, the transformations of tricarboxylic acids, the oxidation of fatty acids, calcium management, and the activation of vitamin D.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning that calcium plays an important role in the formation of high-energy bonds (ATP, GTP) and in the process of cell division. It also plays a role in the regulation of blood glucose, and its reduced intracellular levels can distort insulin secretion, which increases the risk of metabolic syndrome and diabetes.

The daily magnesium requirement oscillates around 300-400 mg and increases in the case of a physical effort, excessive stress, during pregnancy and breastfeeding later on. Modern test results show that standard diet does not contain a sufficient amount of magnesium-rich products, such as whole-wheat products, green leafy vegetables and nuts.

Magnesium deficiency in the diet is also caused by the ever smaller amount of the element in plants, which absorb it from the ground. That is caused by the progressing pollution of the environment and incorrect fertilisation. Another reason are losses stemming from food processing and preservation. Food products rich in fats, dietary fibre and phytates can also reduce magnesium absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. The excess of phosphates in the diet contributes to the increased magnesium excretion from the body.

Magnesium deficiencies in the organism can be caused by the excessive consumption of alcohol, coffee, strict slimming diets, contraceptives, antibiotics, cytostatics, by psychoactive, diuretic agents, and sleeping pills. The deficiencies of the element can also occur in the case of digestive system diseases that consist in absorption disorders or excessive bowel movements.

The consequences of a magnesium deficiency: During a magnesium deficiency, there can occur heart rhythm disorders. Magnesium ions reduce the calcium influx to cells, so its deficiency can be a cause of hypertension. Its low levels can lead to problems connected with the muscle lamina of coronary vessels, which can lead to cardiac ischaemia. Magnesium has a beneficial effect on the endothelium, directly affecting the relaxation of smooth muscles in blood vessel walls. The consequence of the process is vasodilation (the widening of blood vessels) and a reduction of blood pressure.

Magnesium deficiencies can also be responsible for feeling constant fatigue, the lack of energy, low mood, depression, and concentration problems. A typical symptom of the element’s deficiency is twitching (e.g. eyelid twitching), caused by the increased neuromuscular excitability, as well as calf cramps, the numbness and tingling of legs, hair loss and brittle nails.

To sum up, Magnesium & Potassium Aspartate is a product recommended particularly for people who regularly consume large amounts of coffee, alcohol, and live in chronic stress. Its consumption can be helpful in the case of students, people whose work requires a heavy intellectual effort, as well as those who work physically or train intensively. Additional calcium supplementation is also recommended for menopausal and pregnant women, people with metabolism problems and those on strict slimming diets.

Scientific studies show that magnesium deficiencies are closely connected with the development of arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart rhythm disorders, strokes and depression. Magnesium supplementation allows to deal with its deficiencies, ensure normal metabolic processes and reduce the risk of the above-mentioned ailments.

Magnesium

Information

Magnesium (element from the group of alkaline earth metals, atomic no. 12, a chemical symbol - Mg), one of the most important health microelements, participates in the synthesis process of the disintegration of high energy compounds and processes of transformation of hydrocarbons and fats. It affects the dilation of blood vessels and lower blood pressure, prevents hypercoagulable state. Shortages affect cardiac arrhythmias, malignant muscle cramps, insomnia and anxiety. It is a component of many dietary supplements and found in foods such as whole grain bread, legumes, buckwheat, rice, fish, meat, as well as chocolate, cocoa and nuts.
Dosage of 100 - 500 mg / day

Magnesium aspartate

Information

Asparaganian magnesium (chelate magnesium and aspartic acid) is an organic magnesium form characterized by absorption and stability in the body. Magnesium is actively involved in energy conversion (necessary in the process of ATP). Intracellular cation, stored in the bones, partly in soft tissues and minimal quantity in the extracellular fluid. Maintains a proper bone structure, nucleic acids and chromosomes. It is an activator of enzymes involved in the synthesis of protein, stabilizes cell membranes, conducts nerve impulses and increases contractility of nerve fibres.
Deficiencies of magnesium in the body are causing disorder of the immune system and water-electrolyte balanace, causing greater susceptibility to stress, irritability and insomnia. Magnesium deficiency can cause cardiac arrhythmias, uncontrolled muscle contractions, numbness in the limbs.
Asparganian Magnesium is a component of the mineral preparations (including ZMA), vitamin and mineral and pro-testosterone supplements used in sports supplementation.
Dosage: based on Mg ions, 100-500 mg per day.

Potassium

Information

Potassium and sodium regulate the body's water resources, ensuring normal heart rhythm. Maintaining the proper level of potassium provides the proper oxidation of the brain, lowers blood pressure, increases the permeability of cell membranes (as an antagonist of calcium). It is a base-forming element. It is widely used in sports diet before and after training in the form of supplements, nutrients, vitamin-mineral preparations and minerals, concentrates and ready, isotonic and hypertonic beverages. Natural sources of acquisition of potassium are: vegetable products (bananas, citrus fruits, melons, mint leaves, green vegetables, potatoes) and animal products (sea fish, meat). Potassium is present in the form of organic compounds: citric acids, and fumarates gluconates and inorganic (chlorides, sulfates, oxides and carbonates).
Potassium deficiency (hypokalemia): excessive tiredness, headaches and irritability, problems with sleeping, muscle cramps, constipation. Potassium levels may drop sharply in the event of a reduction in blood sugar levels, prolonged starvation, severe diarrhea. They can occur when too much of strong coffee is consumed, with alcohol abuse and when eating too much sweets.
The excess of potassium (hyperkalemia) is often the cause of depression, hypotension, tingling in the extremities.

Potassium aspartate

Information

Potassium aspartate - a highly assimilable form of potassium, mainly encountered in dietary supplements in combination with magnesium aspartate. It is used in order to effectively increase the supply of this mineral in a diet. It is especially important for physically active people, as it is indicated that intensive physical effort is conducive to disposing of potassium ions from the organism. Diet rich in salt is also conducive to its deficiencies.

Potassium is the most common cation present in the intercellular fluid, thanks to which it is incredibly important to maintain the organism’s homeostasis. It is an electrolyte, ensures optimal permeability of cell membranes, facilitates efficient biochemical transformations in the cytoplasm. It is also an activator of many enzymes, due to which it conditions the course of many reactions in the organism.

Insufficient supply of potassium leads to water-electrolyte disorders in the organism. It mainly gives symptoms of general weakness and increased fatigue, it decreases cognitive functions motor coordination. It negatively influences the work of heart, may disturb the functioning of the whole muscle system. In hypocalcemia, nervous system disfunctions may also appear.

Taurine

Information

Taurine – non-protein amino acid containing sulphur, which is synthesized in the body from methionine and cysteine, present in sufficient amount in human or animal body (in the brain, heart and skeletal), although in some cases must be supplemented. Significantly affects the calcium content in the cells and stabilizes the water and electrolyte balance and maintains acid-base balance. Takes part in the synthesis of bile acids. In the body acts as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. It is an insulin-mimetic improving insulin metabolism, responsible for transport of nutrients (such as amino acids, glucose, creatine) to the cells and muscle tissue. These properties determine that it is a valued mono-preparation supplement and valuable addition to creatine and amino acid supplements, recommended for psycho-pchysically active people and athletes and other competitive sportsmen in pre- and post-workout periods.
Dosage: 3 grams per day.
