Taurine Taurine

Primaforce Taurine is a supplement which enriches your diet with taurine. The preparation is in a powdered form, contains the active substance only and is free of unnecessary fillers and anti-caking agents which are added to capsules.

The supplement supports normal function of the central nervous system and is essential to the maintenance of a healthy heart, kidneys and eyes. It works perfectly for athletes – it may increase exercise capacity, promotes muscle mass growth and speeds up body fat reduction.

Taurine is a non-protein amino acid, syntethised from cysteine and methionine. Its endogenous production rarely meets fully the body’s requirements, Because of that, taurine must be provided with food. It is found in rich amounts in animal products and its excellent sources are fish and seafood. It has many biological roles in the body and is involved in numerous physiological processes. Its deficiencies occur typically in diseases.

Taurine shows a range of health benefits. Unfortunately, it is infamous for energy drinks in which is a common additive. It should be emphasised that energy drinks are unhealthy due to excess sugar and caffeine and not the content of taurine. Taurine is added to them to reduce unpleasant side effects of high caffeine doses, such as palpitation, nervousness and anxiety. Unfortunately, the presence of sugar and caffeine reduces its potential health-promoting effects.

Taurine for the cardiovascular system

Taurine influences positively the circulatory system and has cardioprotective properties.  It prevents myocardial overload, shows osmotic properties, helps maintain the body’s water-electrolyte balance and lowers blood pressure. It contributes to improving myocardial contractility and may also reduce the incidence of arrhythmia.

Studies have shown that taurine supplementation aids in lowering levels of homocysteine which correlates strongly with the development of cardiovascular diseases. Taurine is a substrate for the production of bile salts. Owing to that, it plays a major role in the breakdown of fat and cholesterol and helps maintain healthy lipid levels.

Taurine for a healthy liver

Taurine has a beneficial impact on liver health and protects it against damage caused by toxic heavy metals and free radical activity. Studies have demonstrated that taking taurine repairs liver damage in patients with hepatitis. It has been also observed that liver cirrhosis is accompanied by a severe taurine deficiency. Correcting deficiencies reduced negative effects of the disease (e.g. painful muscle cramps).

Studies on rodents give promising results in the prophylaxis of alcoholic and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. In both cases, taurine prevented permanent damage to hepatocytes and speeded up their regeneration.

Taurine for the nervous system

Taurine helps stabilise mood and prevents states of depression. Such effects are due to the ability to regulate the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis (HPA axis) and consequently reduce excessive cortisol levels. In addition, taurine interacts with GABA receptors. As we know, gamma-hydroxybutyric acid inhibits overactivity of the nervous system. This is probably why some taurine users experience an enhanced mood and better sense of mental well-being.

Long-term taurine supplementation has a neuroprotective effect and may contribute to improving memory and strengthening cognitive functions. Taurine protects against the overexcitability of neurons induced by glutamate activity. This process leads to neuronal degradation and impaired cognitive abilities.

Taurine for eyes

Large amounts of taurine are accumulated by the eye retina, in particular its external layer in which photoreceptors cells are localised. It has there a protective role – it secures against oxidative stress generated by UV rays, inihibits lipid peroxidation and prevents DNA damage. It may also initiate the regeneration of damaged retina structures. Studies have proven that a decrease in taurine levels is followed by rapid retinal degeneration and replenishing its levels stimulates the repair of damaged tissues.

Taurine as an antioxidant and regulator of the inflammatory response

Taurine is a very effective, although less known, antioxidant. Like other antioxidants, it eliminates directly excess free radicals from the body but it can also increase the production and activity of other bodily antioxidants.

Taurine has a major role in the regulation of the inflammatory response. Studies have demonstrated that it inhibits the formation of proinflammatory substances and reduces their levels after inducing an inflammatory reponse and oxidative stress. It has thus an indirect effect – it reacts with hypochlorous acid, giving taurine chloramine. This compound shows actually the strongest anti-inflammatory properties.

Taurine as a regulator of glucose balance

Studies have shown that long-term taurine supplementation leads to decrease in serum glucose concentrations in diabetics. The mechanism of hypoglycaemic action of taurine has not been fully discovered yet. It seems that it does not stimulate insulin synthesis but improves the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to its action and cellulipetal transport of glucose. It may also inhibit glucose absorption from the digestive tract.

Taurine in sports supplementation

Taurine enjoys great popularity among physically active persons. This compound is believed to increase strength and endurance and speed up post-workout recovery. Such effects are probably due to its antioxidant properties and ability to promote the body’s homeostasis.

Taurine helps reduce body fat and may promote indirectly the development of muscle mass. It is involved in fat metabolism, especially at its initial stage. One of the studies have shown that taurine encourages the synthesis of testosterone which is a typical anabolic hormone.

It is commonly said that taurine supplementation should be added to a creatine cycle. Many experts believe that taurine may aid in the transport of creatine to muscle cells.

Taurine is a frequent ingredient of pre-workout stacks. It works very well in combination with stimulants – it reduces their negative effects and ensures stimulation without unnecessary nervousness, irritability or absent-mindedness.

To sum up, Primaforce Taurine is a supplement which may bring many benefits for your health and physical fitness. The supplement should be considered especially by vegetarians and vegans because their diets provide very small amounts of taurine.

Taurine

Information

Taurine – non-protein amino acid containing sulphur, which is synthesized in the body from methionine and cysteine, present in sufficient amount in human or animal body (in the brain, heart and skeletal), although in some cases must be supplemented. Significantly affects the calcium content in the cells and stabilizes the water and electrolyte balance and maintains acid-base balance. Takes part in the synthesis of bile acids. In the body acts as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. It is an insulin-mimetic improving insulin metabolism, responsible for transport of nutrients (such as amino acids, glucose, creatine) to the cells and muscle tissue. These properties determine that it is a valued mono-preparation supplement and valuable addition to creatine and amino acid supplements, recommended for psycho-pchysically active people and athletes and other competitive sportsmen in pre- and post-workout periods.
Dosage: 3 grams per day.
