Vitamin K2 100mcg Vitamin K2 100mcg

Solgar Vitamin K is a dietary supplement with 100 mcg of vitamin K2 MK-7 obtained from natto – a fermented soy product. Vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7 contained in the product manifests the most bioavailability and the longest duration of effect in the body. The preparation is also enriched with calcium – an essential element for the proper functioning of the organism and first and foremost to maintain the normal structure of bones and teeth.

Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) – a group of compounds – menaquinones – affecting various biological reactions in the body, especially calcium balance, while maintaining the correct functioning of the skeletal and circulatory system. A unique form of the vitamin is menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2 MK-7), occurring naturally in the fermented soya bean (natto), which has the longest effect in the body, lasting up to 72 hours, and very good assimilability.

Causes of deficiency: Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) should not be equated with the widely known vitamin K1 (phylloquinone), which is found in green parts of many plant products and involved in the process of blood clotting. However, it turns out that there are serious deficiencies of the first one (K2) in the diet of Western countries, particularly of its long-chain forms, namely MK-7 and MK-9. This is probably the result of a low consumption of fermented products and not taking care of the natural intestinal microflora, which should be a source of this vitamin.

The shorter acting form of vitamin K2, which is the MK-4, occurs commonly in fatty animal products: eggs, dairy products, meat and liver. However, over the last 10-15 years cholesterol phobia caused that human began to avoid fat-rich products. This negative phenomenon also increased the instances of menaquinones' deficiency and thus deterioration of bone health and the occurrence of osteoporosis and other bone diseases.

A bit of history: history of vitamin K2 may be combined with the well known, but also a controversial dentist –Weston Price. That dentist studied in the early 20th century the relationship between a diet and dental diseases in different populations. On the basis of conducted observations and researches, he discovered that people consuming industry unprocessed products with a high content of unidentified (then) product showed a better protection against tooth decay as well as a lower incidence of chronic diseases. The unidentified ingredient was later called vitamin K2.

Skeleton: osteocalcin is a protein synthesised mainly by osteoblasts (bone-forming cells). It is involved in the transport of calcium ions and binding it with the matrix of hydroxyapatite – a mineral composed of calcium hydroxyphosphate which comprises a mineral scaffold of connective tissue that is responsible for the mechanical strength of bone. However, osteocalcin shows its activity in relation to calcium ions mainly in a carboxylate form which is obtained only as a result of the presence of the vitamin K2. To put it simply, vitamin K2 is involved in the transport of calcium from blood to places where it is needed, mainly to bones. Studies have confirmed the effectiveness of the vitamin K2. It has been proven that i.e. it increases bone mineral density (BMD) in patients with femoral neck fracture, while a deficiency of this vitamin contributes to the increase in the fragility of  bones,

Circulatory system: Vitamin K2 prevents not only osteoporosis (porosity of bones) but also sclerosis that is the calcification and hardening of blood vessels. It directs the excess calcium in the blood vessels to the appropriate places, by preventing the formation and hardening of atherosclerotic plaques. Vitamin K2 also activates MGP protein (Matrix GLA Protein), which inhibits calcification, prevents the accumulation of calcium and thus stiffening and cracking of blood vessels.

Cancer: Recent reports indicate that vitamin K2 is an important factor in the prevention of cancer, as well as in its treatment. One of the theories explaining the mechanism of antitumor activity is the induction of oxidative stress in cancer cells, what inhibits their growth and sometimes leads to the death of the cells. Vitamin K2 in relation to cancer cells is therefore a pro-oxidant. It has been shown that i.e. it works closely with vitamin C and the studies have proven the efficacy of such combination in killing cells of breast, skin, cervical and prostate cancer.

To sum up, Solgar Vitamin K2 is a dietary supplement that should be found on a shelf in a home of any person taking care of your health. It shows the synergistic effect in combination with vitamin D3, vitamin C and calcium. It's irreplaceable in the prevention against cardiovascular and skeletal diseases and cancer.

Menaquinone-7

General information

What is menaquinone-7?

Menaquinone-7 is a term used for long-chain form of vitamin K2, having seven isoprene residues in the side chain.  Contrary to another popular form MK-4, it is not synthesized in tissues, however, it may be produced in the intestines by means of the conversion from vitamin K1 by intestinal bacteria.

It exhibits especially positive influence on the health of the circulatory system, especially by lowering the risk of atherosclerosis and heart attacks. It owes this effect mainly to osteocalcin, activated by vitamin K2. This hormone is responsible among others for the transport of calcium to bones, which counteracts its storage in soft tissues, decreasing at the same time the probability of blood vessel calcification and the creation of atherosclerotic plaques. K2 MK-7 also contributes to protecting the nervous system, securing neurons from excitotoxicity induced by excessive activity of glutamate and reducing the consequences of excessively low level of glutathione.

Vitamin K2 in the form of menaquinone-7 is a very popular additive to supplements with vitamin D3, due to the synergy of effects and reducing potential negative effects of applying higher doses of cholecalciferol.

Menaquinone-7 may be found both in monopreparations and complex supplements in the offer of muscle-zone.pl.

Calcium

General information

Calcium (element chem. symbol Ca, atomic no. 20, the group of alkaline earth metals) is the basic building substance of bones and teeth, in which stored is 99% of the element, in the form of hydroxylapatite. When building bones and teeth, phosphorus is very important in the right proportion. It is a base-forming element and activator of many enzymes (ATPase) necessary to release the energy of ATP. It has a significant effect on blood clotting and regulates blood pressure and neuromuscular conductivity. Thanks to the reduced permeability of cell membranes, it soothes the symptoms of food allergies. Calcium is actively involved in the metabolism of iron interacts with vitamins A, C and D and phosphorus, magnesium. Natural source of calcium are animal products (dairy products, sardines, salmon, sprats eaten with bones) and plant products (nuts, soybeans, sunflower seeds). Absorption takes place in the small intestine (less in the colon), it has an effect on the level of lactose, insoluble fibre, organic acids, alkalinity (low pH). The best absorption have organic compounds (lactates, amino acid chelates etc.). Obstructing the absorption of calcium is caused by: phytic acid and oxalic acid as well as excess fat. Scientific studies have confirmed that the combination of calcium, magnesium, boron and vitamin D in dose 3 mg / 24h effectively prevent osteoporosis. Supplements on the market are both mono-preparation supplements (enriched with vitamin D3) and multi-component supplements, available at www.muscle-zone.pl.
Calcium deficiency disorders manifested in the construction of the bones (osteoporosis) and iron metabolism. The symptoms are: rickets, cramps and muscle tremor, osteoporosis.
Excess result
ing from an overdose of calcium supplements containing vitamin D3 for children and adults overdose of calcium (hypercalcemia). Symptoms of hypercalcemia are: lack of appetite, vomiting and constipation.
The dosage administered in various publications
are inconsistent: 800 - 1000 mg / 24 h (100 - 500 mg / 24h)
