17-ketosteroids are the result of the biosynthesis of phytosterols. One of the most important 17-keto steroids is dyhydroepiandrosteron (DHEA), a hormone produced in the adrenal gland, inhibiting the ageing process, it is converted in the body into estrogen, testosterone and progesterone (female and male sex hormones), with anabolic effect and increasing masculinising. Hyperactivity of hormones can cause a decline of characteristic female features [e.g. facial hair, bold voice, breast reduction (disappearance of mammary gland), abnormal menstruation, growth and hardening of the clitoris). 17-ketosteroids introduced into the body in doses individually recommended, is stimulating metabolism, protein synthesis, bone growth and development of muscle tissue cells . 17-ketosteroid (DHEA) affect the nervous system, reducing stress. The accelerate metabolism, reducing the formation of fat. They have an impact on the insulin management. They are recommended in supplementation for people aged +40 due to the delay of ageing process.
