Safed musli – what is it?
Safed musli is an herb originating from Indian medicine, also known as Chlorophytum borivilianum. It shows adaptogenic and aphrodisiac properties.
The herb is rich in saponins and phytosterols, such as chlorophytosides and borivilianosides, which amount for almost 20% of the herb content. Safed musli contains also polysaccharides, which can stimulate the activity of the immune system, due to the interaction with toll-like receptors.
Because of high adaptogenic potential, safed musli can be helpful in periods of increased stress and organism burden, as it supports body system adaptation to unfavourable conditions. The properties raising potency result from inhibition of ROCK-II proteins in the penis spongy bone which increases erection. Safed musli increases spermatogenesis, which was proven by tests in mice. It is also speculated that it has an influence on the nitric oxide level in the body system, but this hypothesis requires further research. There are also some benefits in parameters indicating cardiovascular system condition, especially in the lipid profile.
Safed musli can be found in complex preparations aiming at optimisation of hormonal balance in men, available in the offer of muscle-zone.pl
L-DOPA - an amino acid, commonly called Levodopa, enantiomer of L-dihydroxyphenylalanine, belonging to the group of catecholamines. It is present in the human organism on the pathway of adrenaline biosynthesis. It is produced from tyrosine and is a precursor for subsequent reactions of compounds produced in this chain - dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline.
Thanks to the ability to cross blood-brain barrier, it is an incredibly effective supplement as for the promotion of cognitive functions and emotional states. It is conducive to the synthesis of dopamine and therefore it promotes its concentration and effectiveness in the organism. In this way, it positively influences the level of motivation and well-being. Due to the presence of dopamine in the extrapyramidal system, where it is responsible for neuromotor coordination, it is used in the therapy of Parkinson’s disease (the etiology of which consists in disturbing the synthesis of this neurotransmitter).
More globally, supplementation with levodopa may be conducive to the synthesis of subsequent catecholamines on the pathway of their biosynthesis, i.e. noradrenaline and final adrenaline. Therefore, it may demonstrate a stimulating effect.
Supplementation with L-DOPA also positively influences the secretion of testosterone and the human growth hormone. Due to its wide effectiveness in the organism, it may be also effectively used in order to promote sexual functions in men.
Alpha GPC (L-Alpha Glucerylphosphorylcholine, alphaglycerylphosphorylcholine) occurs naturally in the brain and milk. It is a chemical compound (a derivative of choline and its provider in the body) providing a precursor for the synthesis of acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter. Probably it has an impact on the secretion of the growth hormone that allows the intensification of tissue regeneration and it is improving the general condition and forming of proper body building.
The medicine uses it in the neurological treatments (stress, depression). In the sports supplementation is rarely used. It is a part of the supplements supporting a night renewal process.
Choline belongs to the soluble in liquids group of B vitamins. It is an organic nitrogen base containing lecithin, and acetylcholine. Together with inositol is involved in the metabolism of fats and cholesterol metabolism, preventing its accumulation on the walls of arteries and deposits in the gallbladder. With the penetration of the brain, contained lecithin improves its action and improves memory. Used in the treatment of age-related diseases (Alzheimer's). It occurs in plant foods: yeast, wheat germ, lecithin, green leafy vegetables and egg yolks.
L-carnitine is a vitamin-like substance, synthesized in the body from amino acids (lysine and methionine) and available in foods of animal origin. It is a component of muscle (including cardiac muscle) and nerve tissue. Involved in the metabolism of fats affecting the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell, facilitating their burning and energy production. It is a potent antioxidant, contributing to the improvement of the aerobic condition and accelerating the recovery after intense exercise. Recommended for use for representatives of endurance sports. In the sports supplementation there are available mono-preparation of carnitine (in liquid form, acetylated [ALC], esterified [see. Propionyl-L-carnitine]) and multicomponent (e.g. in a complex with organic acids - see. L-carnitine tartrate) energetic, weight loss and improving the exercise capacity supplements, to be purchased at www.muscle-zone.pl
Dosage: 1 - 3 g per day in 1 - 3 doses, preferably about 45 - 60 minutes prior to exercise.
L-carnitine tartrate is formed from the combination of L-carnitine tartrate (organic acid) in a single molecule, increasing the interaction (synergism) of each of the substances used. L-carnitine is supplied to the body from the outside through animal food (mutton, beef, venison) or a combination of amino acids (lysine and methionine). It participates in the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell where they are burned. Tartrate reduces the deposition of fatty acids in the cells, thereby enhancing the effects of L-carnitine. It is recommended in endurance sports supplementation, as a dietary supplement for people on a slimming diet and to supplement the shortage of l-carnitine of people not consuming meat products (vegans).
Glycocarn (GPLC) - glycine propionyl-L-carnitine is one of the more advanced call ester of L-carnitine and the essential amino acid glycine. Propionyl-L-carnitine (PLCAR) with high bioavailability, is involved in the metabolism of fat, and the influence on the composition and silhouette of body by reducing body fat. Improves the functioning of the cardiovascular system and the heart. Supports the exercise capacity. Glycine is selected from 22 endogenous amino acids that are building proteins, as well as no-protein component of enzymes (haem), is a neurotransmitter inhibiting antioxidant, cholagogic. Set of these components improves the GPLC bioavailability and improves its chemical properties, in particular effecting the reduction of body fat and improving the blood supply and nutrition of muscle and improves the aerobic capacity of organism. In the sports supplementation - used in programs to increase muscle mass and strength and improve body composition and body aesthetics, by athletes of strength and endurance sports, in the form of no-boosters, creatine stacks and pre- and post-workout supplements.
Dosage: 1-4 g per day (usual dose in sports supplementation).
Glycine is belongs to 22 essential amino acids (synthesized within the body) constructing proteins, and non-protein component of enzymes i.e. heme. It is a inhibiting neurotransmitter allowing for improvement in sleep comfort even at a dose of 3 g at bedtime. Glycine (as arginine) is a precursor of creatine. It is essential for the synthesis of a strong antioxidant - removing free radicals out of the body - glutathione. It is cholagogic and cholepoiteic. By interfering with the synthesis of growth hormone, accelerates the biological recovery of an organism. Naturally present in foods of plant and animal origin. In the sports supplementation is a component creatine stacks, amino acid supplements, protein supplements based on natural ingredients and carbohydrate and protein.
Chlorine (chemical element from the group of halogens) - in the natural form of gas it is poisonous and water-soluble (until recently used as a disinfectant in the water supply system, now replaced by fluorination). It is chemically active element. It is used in the form of sodium chloride (NaCl) and potassium (KCl). It participates in the process of digestion and maintains acid-base balance in the body, removes toxic products of metabolism in the liver (antitoxin). Natural source of chlorine for the body is salt and bladderwrack.
Chlorine deficiency can occur due to excessive sweating, vomiting, causing digestive tract problems. It also causes loss of hair and teeth.
Excess chlorine, for example. Drink excessive amounts of chlorinated water, destroys bacterial flora and vitamin E.
Dosage: Daily dose should not exceed 15 grams.
EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) - a compound occurring naturally in the leaves of green tea and sage nutmeg. Powerful antioxidant resulting in removing free radicals out of your body. It has the thermogenic potential (enhanced when combined with other substances including caffeine, capsaicin, etc.), allowing a faster fat reduction. Affects preventively in the side effects of the glandular hypertrophy (prostate) and male pattern baldness. Recommended for those who are active physically and professionally, for the maintenance of body composition and body aesthetics. It is a component of fat burners, allowing for faster slimming.
Dosage: 50-500 mg per day.
Extract Griffonia Simplicifolia is the source derivative of tryptophan (5-HTP), an important neurotransmitter involved in the synthesis of serotonin, and indirectly affects the production of melatonin (the hormone responsible for sleep). It is used to treat depression and inactivity. In the sports supplementation it is used as a neurotransmitter responsible for the quality of sleep and improving the regenerative processes, moreover, it is a component of supplements which enhances the secretion of growth hormone and fat burners.
Dosage: In terms of 5-HTP from several dozen to several hundred mg per day.
