Ecdysterone is a substance that in the world of bodybuilding passes without much of echo. In reality, however, it is strongly correlated with anabolic hormones and shows a great potential. As it turns out that regular supplementation in appropriate doses can contribute to an increase in lean body mass, increase of muscle strength and endurance, as well as acceleration of metabolism. Ecdysterone significantly improves protein synthesis, characterized by anti-catabolic properties and blocking too high estrogen levels. It is also expected that it may increase erythropoiesis.
Methoxyisoflavone (synonym: 5-methyl-7-methoxy-isoflavone), a compound derived from flavonoids found in soy, soy-like ipriflavones for use in the treatment of osteoporosis, anabolic agents (in particular, the increase in lean body mass and strength and endurance) by limiting the activity of cortisol, gives life to the body (improved vitality). It is a component of anabolic herbal and herbal-mineralizing blends, action similar to anabolic steroids rarely used in sports supplementation (although in some sports has many supporters). Available at www.muscle-zone.pl.
Dosage: No standards unit consumption. In supplementation, dosages of from 50 is 200 mg / 24 h.
Turkesterone - steroid from ecdysteroids group, occurring in the vegetable (phytoecdysteroids), extracted from Ajuga turkestanika and animals (zooecdysteroids). Ecdysteroids affects the proper functioning of the kidneys and liver, nervous and immune systems as well as it is beneficial for glycemic and lipid profiles. In the supplementation is used for its anabolic and adaptogenic potential. The use is recommended during intense training, to ensure the growth of lean body mass and increase functional capacity (strength and endurance) and relieve psycho-physical stress. It is a component of herbal supplements, amino acid and creatine stacks and protein supplements Available at the www.muscle-zone.pl
Dosage: 100 - 200 mg / 24h or as some sources say 5m / kg body weight.
Phytosterols are components of plant cell membranes with a construction resembling the construction of cholesterol. This group includes over forty compounds (including beta-sitosterol, campesterol, sitosterol and stigmasterol). Due to their similarity to cholesterol, they bind to intestinal cell receptors and block the absorption in the intestine and facilitate the excretion of cholesterol outside of the organism. Phytosterols absorption by the body does not exceed 5% and the remainings are excreted out of the body without side effects. Besides reducing total cholesterol, phytosterols influence the blood lipid profile, i.e. stabilizes levels of LDL and HDL cholesterol. Provides the proper functioning of cell membranes (in a similar way to the functioning of the human hormones). The effect of phytosterols on the inhibition of prostate hyperplasia has been observed. The source of acquisition phytosterols are vegetable oils, legumes, sesame and sunflower seeds, cereals and wholemeal bread. Plant sterols are increasingly being used in supplementation of athletes, which use their ability to increase exercise capacity and stimulation of muscle mass.
Dosage: The optimal dose is 2 grams of phytosterols per day (and cannot exceed 3g). Average consumption in Europe is much lower and amounts are a little more than 200 mg per day.
Leucine is an essential amino acid, one of the three branched chain amino acids, ketogenic, its isomer is isoleucine. It affects the secretion of anabolic hormones (insulin, combined carbohydrates), acts on enzymes (mTOR) starting the process of muscle protein synthesis and controlling its course. Protein synthesis by leucine is affecting the development of bones, muscles and skin. It reduces the fat tissue. Without the availability of leucine, protein synthesis is impossible. It naturally occurs in animal products (such as eggs, meat, dairy and fish), plant origin, and as a post-training supplements, BCAA, EAA, no-boosters, creatine stacks, carbohydrate supplements. Ir is also in the form of mono-preparation supplements. It is one of the most important amino acids for the athlete's body, basically in every sports discipline.
Dosage: The demand is 5-10 g / 24h, dosage pre- and post-workout and in the morning after waking up.
Isoleucine is an essential branched amino acid (BCAA), leucine-isomer. It has anti-catabolic action ( protects muscle against decay), glucogenic (an alternative energy source when the level of glucose after exercise decreases, helps for the regulation of blood glucose levels, reduces the deficiency of fatty acids), anti-catabolic (muscle protects against decay), reduces stress. It participates in the synthesis of proteins (including the synthesis of hemoglobin). It is an essential part of the regeneration of damaged tissues of the body, and after intense training. It occurs in products containing animal protein (meat and dairy products, eggs, dairy products) and plant (almonds, walnuts) and dietary supplements.
Isoleucine is applied with other branched chain amino acids: leucine, valine, and in the supplement complex type of BCAA, in the proportions: leucine: isoleucine: valine = 2: 1: 1. The supplements used in competitive sports requiring increased strength, the bigger share of isoleucine is used.
Dosage: No standard daily use. Frequently applied directly after the workout during the decrease of the glucose level of or at fatty acid deficiency.
Valine – is a branched essential amino acid, indispensible for the functioning of the nervous system (receiving of sensory information), involved in muscle protein synthesis and energy generation. Administration of additional doses of valine before exercise (or immediately after) has anti-catabolic effect, protecting the proteins and allowing them to rebuild. It is slightly stimulatory (delays symptoms of fatigue during workout), affecting the level and relations of neurotransmitters. It helps to protect the liver. It stimulates an increase in strength and muscle mass, participates in the reduction of body fat. BCAA, EAA, and other mixtures of amino acid supplementation, protein and protein supplements and carbohydrate-stacks, brings positive results in strength and endurance sports.
Valine deficiency can occur in case of increased energy needs of the body, as the result of stress and too much stress load.
Taurine – non-protein amino acid containing sulphur, which is synthesized in the body from methionine and cysteine, present in sufficient amount in human or animal body (in the brain, heart and skeletal), although in some cases must be supplemented. Significantly affects the calcium content in the cells and stabilizes the water and electrolyte balance and maintains acid-base balance. Takes part in the synthesis of bile acids. In the body acts as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. It is an insulin-mimetic improving insulin metabolism, responsible for transport of nutrients (such as amino acids, glucose, creatine) to the cells and muscle tissue. These properties determine that it is a valued mono-preparation supplement and valuable addition to creatine and amino acid supplements, recommended for psycho-pchysically active people and athletes and other competitive sportsmen in pre- and post-workout periods.
Dosage: 3 grams per day.
L-carnitine is a vitamin-like substance, synthesized in the body from amino acids (lysine and methionine) and available in foods of animal origin. It is a component of muscle (including cardiac muscle) and nerve tissue. Involved in the metabolism of fats affecting the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell, facilitating their burning and energy production. It is a potent antioxidant, contributing to the improvement of the aerobic condition and accelerating the recovery after intense exercise. Recommended for use for representatives of endurance sports. In the sports supplementation there are available mono-preparation of carnitine (in liquid form, acetylated [ALC], esterified [see. Propionyl-L-carnitine]) and multicomponent (e.g. in a complex with organic acids - see. L-carnitine tartrate) energetic, weight loss and improving the exercise capacity supplements, to be purchased at www.muscle-zone.pl
Dosage: 1 - 3 g per day in 1 - 3 doses, preferably about 45 - 60 minutes prior to exercise.
Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) plant of Asian origin, used for years in Chinese and Indian medicine. A rich source of flavonoids active substances (daidzein, daidzin, genistein and puerarin) called phytoestrogens, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. With the stimulation of secretion of dopamine and serotonin in the brain it has a positive effect on the treatment of alcohol and nicotine addiction and the level of neurotransmitters and hormones. In the supplementation used in combination with other plant extracts, which are used for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and, in particular impact on the level of neurotransmitters. Preparations containing Kudu are available at www.muscle-zone.pl.
Dosage: the lack of standards unit consumption
Fenugreek (Trigonella forenum) - is a herbaceous plant of the family Fabaceae. Fenugreek seeds (semen foenugraeci) reduce the level of sugar through the action of 4-hydroxyisoleucine and cholesterol in the blood. They are a stimulant of milk production, when used – production of milk increases ninefold. It is a source of diosgenin, gitogenin, yamogenien and tigogenin steroid glycosides (saponins). They can be applied internally (are protecting and anti-inflammation on the mucous membrane of the digestive system) and externally (in the inflammatory skin diseases: boils, eczema, abscesses and peptic ulcer disease).
In the sports supplementation it is used as a source of steroid glycosides (saponin) to increase testosterone levels. Available in the form of mono-preparation supplements and numerous supplements.
Dosage: In the sports supplementation: 200-1000 mg of extract per day (once, or in two doses).
The Banaba leaf extract (Lagerstroemia indica), a plant used for centuries by the population of the Philippines to effectively regulate blood sugar levels. It has a slightly diuretic effect and helps to effectively reduce body fat. The raw material is a leaf Banaby containing acids (2a-hydroksyursolic [corsolic acid] and ellagic) and tannins. Corsolic acid is an activator of glucose (GLUT 4) operating insulin-like, facilitating the absorption of glucose and saturation of muscle cells.
In the sports supplementation Banaba leaf extract is used as an ingredient in regulating insulin metabolism, supporting the reduction of body fat and improve the absorption of food by muscle tissue.
R-ALA (R-alpha-lipoic acid) active form, having improved properties, and the potential of bioactive lipoic acid (ALA). Its bioactive potential is used in medicine in the diabetic neuropathy and cardiovascular prevention (slows down the formation of atherosclerotic lesions). In the sports supplementation, the properties of the insulin metabolism stimulation are used (sensitivity to insulin and glucose levels in the blood) and antioxidant potential of R-ALA and the assimilation of nutrients, improvement of creatine transport, storage of glycogen and amino acids in muscle tissue. Acid R-ALA is available in the form of mono-preparation supplements and advanced amino acid products, creatine, no-boosters and vitaminizing supplements, for purchase at www.muscle-zone.pl
Dosage: There are no standards of daily consumption
Ginger root (Zingiber Officinale Radix) as a herbal raw material is widely used as a source of, among others, gingerols. Compounds containing organic components of ginger root are characterized by high biological activity. Ginger root is used in medicine, due to the prevention of infection, to ensure a balance of gastrointestinal bacteria, involved in the production of bile. It has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the circulatory system as an antioxidant, lowers blood pressure, causing a delay in the processes of formation of LDL cholesterol (inhibitor). As a thermogenic it reduces appetite processes and sometimes it is a component of weight loss complexes. Through participation in the transformation of thermogenic lipolysis, is one of the valuable fat burners. The active substances contained in it are a component of arthritis regenerators (in combination with glucosamine including or curcumin). In the sports supplementation it is valued for its anti-inflammatory properties to support the process of healing and recovery after an injury of motor organs (especially the joints). It co-creates so called joints regenerators with chondroitin, glucosamine and curcumin.
Gingerols - contained in the ginger rhizome active ingredients are derivatives of phenylpropane. Anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic, warming and regulating the digestive system and digestive tract. They are an antioxidant that reduces oxidation of LDL cholesterol and the building-up of atherosclerotic plaques, lower blood pressure. They also are used in the supplements for the reduction of body fat. When combined with glucosamine, chondroitin and curcumin allow for the regeneration of joints. In the In the sports supplementation they are used for their anti-inflammatory potential, facilitating treatment and rehabilitation after injuries of motoric organs.
Dosage: 10-20 mg per day.
Flavonoids are derivatives of chromone, their rich source of vitamin P (includes routine and quercetin and other flavonoids). They have the ability to restore flexibility of blood vessels, facilitating the work of the heart muscle (antiatherogenic action). They are an antitoxin for myocardial toxication with lactic acid. Used in inflammatory conditions of the urinary system, also they have a diuretic effect. Delay diabetes, help to keep the body's balance of sugar. The raw material of flavonoids are, for example, elderberry (leaves and fruit), bearberry leaves and birch, horsetail herb, knotweed. They are a shield against ultraviolet, and the protection of the body when exposed to radioactive elements during cancer radiation therapy. The most popular of them - routine, can be used without any side effects, even for a period of one year. Flavonoids are poorly soluble in water, and hence usually their alcoholic extraction are used
Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine, 1-methylotheobromine) is a purine alkaloid occurring in the natural state in plants (Coffea arabica, Camelia sinensis, Paulinia cupana, Ilex paraguariensis), which acts as a natural pesticide, acting toxic to insects. Peculiar smell and taste also deters herbivores. Caffeine in the body inhibits the adenosine receptors in the brain, fighting fatigue and allowing for action activation. It has a beneficial effect on the metabolism of oxygen, which increases the exercise capacity (strength and endurance) and rapid post-workout recovery. In the sports supplementation, caffeine is used as a stimulant nervous system. It has the thermogenic potential and in combination with other substances (e.g. Polyphenols, both occurring in coffee beans, such as cocoa beans, tea leaves and mate) can effectively participate in the reduction of body fat. It is included in many dietary stimulants (creatine stacks, no-boosters, beverages). It is a component of fat burners. It is also in the form of mono-preparation supplements.
Dosage: 100-600 mg per day. Due to the long release of activity should not be used in the evening, before sleep.
Theobromine (3,7-Dimethylxanthine) is a purine alkaloid, poorly soluble in water, present in cocoa beans, as well as the leaves of yerba mate, tea, coffee, cola and peanuts. It is a diuretic, lowers blood pressure and improves brain function (dilates the blood vessels of the brain). Also expands the blood vessels throughout the circulatory system, preventing atherosclerotic changes. Sometimes it is used in slimming diet. Combined with caffeine and polyphenols becomes thermogenic. In the sports supplementation formulations containing theobromine are used diuretics and fat burners. It is a component of thermogenics, pre-workout creatine stacks, as well as nitrogen boosters.
Kola nut (kola nut) fruit of an evergreen tree in the malvaceae family (Cola acuminata) grows in subtropical forests of West Africa. Kola nut is most recognizable as a flavour component in beverages "cola". Kola nuts are a source of bioactive compounds (phenols, flavonoids, caffeine, theobromine and theophylline). They act on the central nervous system by removing the signs of fatigue, increase diuretic, in sports supplementation they are components of the pre-workout products (creatine stacks and no-boosters) and the components of fat burners. Caution is advised in the use with the following diseases: hypertensive and neurological diseases, due to the high levels of caffeine, which can cause pressure rise, and when eating in the evening insomnia.
Dosage is calculated on the amount of caffeine in the extract.
