L-carnitine tartrate is formed from the combination of L-carnitine tartrate (organic acid) in a single molecule, increasing the interaction (synergism) of each of the substances used. L-carnitine is supplied to the body from the outside through animal food (mutton, beef, venison) or a combination of amino acids (lysine and methionine). It participates in the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell where they are burned. Tartrate reduces the deposition of fatty acids in the cells, thereby enhancing the effects of L-carnitine. Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine, 1-methylotheobromine) is a purine alkaloid occurring in the natural state in plants (Coffea arabica, Camelia sinensis, Paulinia cupana, Ilex paraguariensis), which acts as a natural pesticide, acting toxic to insects. Peculiar smell and taste also deters herbivores. Caffeine in the body inhibits the adenosine receptors in the brain, fighting fatigue and allowing for action activation. It has a beneficial effect on the metabolism of oxygen, which increases the exercise capacity (strength and endurance) and rapid post-workout recovery. In the sports supplementation, caffeine is used as a stimulant nervous system. It has the thermogenic potential and in combination with other substances (e.g. Polyphenols, both occurring in coffee beans, such as cocoa beans, tea leaves and mate) can effectively participate in the reduction of body fat. It is included in many dietary stimulants (creatine stacks, no-boosters, beverages). It is a component of fat burners. It is also in the form of mono-preparation supplements.
Dosage: 100-600 mg per day. Due to the long release of activity should not be used in the evening, before sleep.
Theacrine is a purine alkaloid which occurs naturally in the fruits of cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum) and the leaves of Camellia assamica. It is structurally similar to caffeine but it has also additional ketone and methyl groups. It also energises, enhances focus and reduces drowsiness and fatigue. In contrary to caffeine, it has more lasting effects and rather does not affect blood pressure. Furthermore, it has been observed that the body develops tolerance to theacrine more slowly and that is why there is no need to increase its dosage to obtain the desired results.
Like caffeine, theacrine can bind to adenosine receptors without activating them. Nonetheless, its effects depend on the dosage. Its high doses block adenosine receptors whereas low doses have the opposite effects – they boost adenosine levels in the hippocampus and that is probably why they may reduce negative effects of excessive caffeine intake. In addition, theacrine modulates dopamine receptors. Their activation leads to higher motivation and enhanced cognitive skills. It is also believed to have analgesic and antioxidant effects.
In supplementation, theacrine is treated as a stimulant. It is used to reduce drowsiness and fatigue and boost mental performance. It is often combined with caffeine to enhance and prolong its effects and prevent the harmful consequences of excess caffeine.
Theacrine is most frequently found in pre-workout supplements and fat burners based on stimulants. Single-ingredient preparations with pure theacrine are also available on the market.

The most common daily dosage is from 50 to 300 mg. Doses below 50 mg will have a relaxing effect and those around 300 mg a stimulating effect.
The Banaba leaf extract (Lagerstroemia indica), a plant used for centuries by the population of the Philippines to effectively regulate blood sugar levels. It has a slightly diuretic effect and helps to effectively reduce body fat. The raw material is a leaf Banaby containing acids (2a-hydroksyursolic [corsolic acid] and ellagic) and tannins. Corsolic acid is an activator of glucose (GLUT 4) operating insulin-like, facilitating the absorption of glucose and saturation of muscle cells.
In the sports supplementation Banaba leaf extract is used as an ingredient in regulating insulin metabolism, supporting the reduction of body fat and improve the absorption of food by muscle tissue.
6-paradol is a bioactive chemical compound found in some plants of the ginger family. It is found in particularly large amounts in Aframomum melegueta, commonly known as the Grains of Paradise. In studies on animal models, 6-paradol has been shown to positively affect the lipid profile and sugar metabolism – by lowering serum glucose and reducing cholesterol. It also helps to reduce body mass. Such results were obtained even in animals that were fed with an unhealthy, high-fat diet.
Researchers identified several essential mechanisms of 6-paradol activity. They proved that it increases the use of glucose through a separate, non-insulin dependent pathway. In addition, it inhibits the synthesis of lipids in adipocytes. It also has a thermogenic effect – it is able to stimulate the expression of brown adipose tissue that is responsible for the generation of heat.
In supplementation, 6-paradol is mainly used as a support for the process of reducing body fat. It can be found in many slimming preparations. There are also Aframomum melegueta extracts available on the market, standardized for the content of 6-paradol.
Theobromine (3,7-Dimethylxanthine) is a purine alkaloid, poorly soluble in water, present in cocoa beans, as well as the leaves of yerba mate, tea, coffee, cola and peanuts. It is a diuretic, lowers blood pressure and improves brain function (dilates the blood vessels of the brain). Also expands the blood vessels throughout the circulatory system, preventing atherosclerotic changes. Sometimes it is used in slimming diet. Combined with caffeine and polyphenols becomes thermogenic. In the sports supplementation formulations containing theobromine are used diuretics and fat burners. It is a component of thermogenics, pre-workout creatine stacks, as well as nitrogen boosters.
Caffeine malate – a combination of caffeine and malic acid which is thus easily absorbed by the body. It is an organic compound which is likely to stimulate human mental activity and has strong energising properties and that is why it is extremely popular among athletes.
Caffeine regulates and maintains healthy blood sugar levels and reduces the incidence of hypoglycaemia. It increases intestinal sugar absorption and can even reduce the demand for glycogen accumulated in muscles, which may contribute to an increase in the body’s endurance.
This compound inhibits the activity of adenosine which calms and relaxes the body. It promotes adrenaline secretion and stimulates the activity of the whole central nervous system.
Caffeine speeds up the release of fats which may also help increase endurance in athletes as a new available source of energy. It contributes to an increase in focus and delays a feeling of fatigue after physical activity.
Yerba Mate extract - from the leaves of yerba mate (ilex paraguariensis), a drink popular in South American countries. The extract contains caffeine (as metaine) and is a powerful antioxidant. Teas and extracts of Yerba Mate leaves are slimming by causing a feeling of satiety and fat absorption, increase immunity of DNA through the binding of free radicals, reduce LDL cholesterol levels.
In the sports supplementation, the ursolic acid contained in the yerba mate, may be important, as it is an aromatase inhibitor, capable of lowering estrogen levels of men, thereby affecting the aesthetics of the figure. Yerba mate extract is a component of fat burners. In combination with green tea, bitter orange and black pepper (piperine) it increases thermogenesis.

Guarana (Paulinia cupana) is a plant of the family Sapindaceae, of which seeds contain purine alkaloid (caffeine), acting as a stimulant on the body of the athlete. The caffeine content in the seeds of guarana is between 4 and 8%. Powdered seeds are the raw material for supplements. Thanks to the slow release of caffeine in the human digestive tract, stimulation takes longer and is less rapid than the consumption of strong coffee or infusions of caffeine. The extracts of Guarana supports the athlete’s body, they increase exercise and endurance capacity (especially aerobic). Guarana is also a component of fat burners. It is often combined with extracts of various plants (e.g. Green tea, cayenne pepper, herbal and synthetic substances). Besides infusions, guarana is in the form of a one-component water soluble powders, capsules, and bottled beverages and concentrates.
Dosage: In terms of 100-300 mg of caffeine per serving, depending on the needs.

Cocoa seeds come from the cocoa fruit (Theobroma cacao). Raw, untreated, cocoa beans are a treasury of valuable nutrients, which is why they were included in the group of the so-called superfoods.
About 50% of the dry mass of cocoa seeds are fats – mainly saturated fatty acids (stearic and palmitic) as well as oleic acid and other acids from the EUFAs. 31% is carbohydrates, with up to 15% being non-digestible fiber.
