DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Extract) is a specially-prepared extract of licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.), which contains less than 1% of glycyrrhizin and less than 3% of glycyrrhizic acid. Both compounds are biologically active and they are responsible for the therapeutic properties of the plant. However, consumed in excess, they may show adverse effects (including increased risk of hypertension and hyperkalemia), hence the need for precise dosing.

The deglycyrrhizinated licorice root extract, used as recommended, is safe and allows for taking the maximum advantage of the medicinal effect of the plant. It has a beneficial effect on the digestive system, relieves discomfort associated with gastric ulcer disease and reflux, facilitates the elimination of Helicobacter pyroli from the body. In addition, it promotes the health of the respiratory system, stimulates the secretory functions of the upper respiratory tract, shows the antitussive effect, facilitates effective cough. The research also indicates that the deglycyrrhizinated licorice root extract has estrogenic properties and has a beneficial effect on the female body during menopause.

Dosage: no standards for unit consumption.

Studies proved the safety of doses up to 1800 mg per day.
