Diindolylmethan (DIM) – what is it?
Diindolylmethan (DIM) is a substance converted from indole-3-carbinol. Its name is associated with its structure, as it contains two indole groups attached to a methane group. DIM can be found in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale and brussels sprouts.
It is used in supplementation because of its anticancer potential and positive influence on estrogen metabolism. DIM can modify the paths of estrogen transformations, which results in improvement in proportion of 2-hydroxyestrone to 16a-hydroxyestrone, which has milder estrogen effect. Higher concentration of DIM affects AhR (aryl hydrocarbon receptor), which in turn affects activation of Natural Killer cells and increases production of interferon-gamma, which can hinder the growth of cancer cells. In turn, even low concentration of DIM increases activity of a gene repair enzyme (ATM) in response to the action of oxidative stressors, which can damage DNA molecules.

Starch is a plant sugar store, composed of particles of glucose produced in the process of photosynthesis (α-D-glucoses linked by α-1,4-glucosidic bonds), and is equivalent to the animal glycogen; belonging to the groups of basic carbohydrates. It consists of amylose and amylopectin. It is insoluble in water, after soaking swells making better filling of the gastrointestinal tract and reduces hunger. During the heating the gelatinization starch takes place. Starches can be divided into: native (achieved e.g. potato, corn, wheat) and wax (e.g. In the waxy maize). Native starch used in the starch production (stiffening agent) and puddings and jellies. The waxy starch amylopectin prevails. Starch is an essential nutrient in the carbohydrate diet of different nutrients and supplements, available at the www.muscle-zone.pl
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a fat soluble. Due to its antioxidant action, it is a protection of other vitamins (e.g. Vitamins A). Protects the body against free radicals, strengthens the walls of blood vessels and its capacity, causing their dilation and dissolution of blood clots. With the reduction of coagulation, it is used as an antiatherogenic medicine, it allows for the proper course of pregnancy. In cooperation with selenium it slows the ageing process of cells, strengthening connective tissue. In the food it is present in whole-grain bread, sprout and grains, vegetable oils (soybean, sunflower), soya beans and sunflower seeds, vegetable fat and hen egg yolks. Also it is used in sports medicine in the form of nutrients and supplements.
Vitamin E deficiency reduces building of red blood cells, results in changes in muscle and disorders of pregnancies.
Dosage: for children, 0.5 mg / 1 kg of weight; for adults 10-30 mg per day.
Phosphatidylcholine – a group of phospholipids whose molecule contains choline. It can be synthesised endogenously in the human body, is a building block of cell membranes and thus influences beneficially their functioning. Since it is found commonly in the body, phosphatidylcholine supplementation shows many health benefits.
This phospholipid has a beneficial impact on the functioning of liver tissues. It has hepatoprotective properties, consequently preventing damage to this organ caused by toxic agents, and helps treat its diseases. It reduces oxidative stress in the liver and has therefore a beneficial impact on the viability of hepatocytes.
Because of the presence of phosphatidylcholine molecules in cell membranes, whose efficiency is critical to maintaining normal neurotransmission, this compound is indicated to influence positively neuronal function. It is suggested that phosphatidylcholine may be effective especially in disorders associated with too low acetylcholine concentrations in the body.
It is also said to promote lipolysis. Such activity of this compound is observed only in topical administration. There are no reliable sources which describe that this phospholipid is capable of speeding up body fat loss in oral delivery.
Soybeans (Soja hispida), the plant imported into Polish, the medicinal raw material and food are seeds (Semen sojae), which is a rich source of protein (approx. 50%), nitrogen-free compounds, fibre, lecithin, genistein and greasy oil. Soybean oil is one of the more preferred oils for health due to the presence of the beta-sitosterol. Scientifically the substances contained in soy confirm its effect on the lipid profile (lower cholesterol in the blood), anti-atherosclerotic effect. It is also used as a food product in the household, replacing the beans. It is a component of protein-carbohydrate and protein supplements and soybean oil, available at www.muscle-zone.pl
