In case you suspect thiamin deficits resulting from, e.g. high sugar level in blood or excessive alcohol use, higher doses of this vitamin are recommended (100-300 mg). These are the doses exceeding RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowances), i.e. recommended daily use, on the basis of which, the norm for women is 1,1 mg a day and for men 1,3 mg.
According to the scientific research, people who received higher doses of thiamin achieved the therapeutic effect faster. Importantly – this vitamin has a limited ability of absorption in the digestive tract and its excessive doses are easily eliminated from the organism with urine.
During the supplementation with vitamin B1 the time of application doesn’t matter. Thiamin does not have to be taken with meal in order to be properly absorbed. In case of higher doses, it may be taken in one portion or divided into several smaller portions.
