Arginine (2-amino 5-guanidinovaleric acid) belongs to endogenous amino acids, which means that it is naturally synthesized in the human body. It is formed from citrulline in the course of the urea cycle. It can also be supplied in the diet, and foods rich in this amino acid include: sesame seeds, walnuts, lentils and beef. Interestingly, the bioavailability of arginine from plant sources is higher than that of animal products.
