According to the producer’s recommendations, the optimal, prophylactic dose is 400 mg per day, i.e. 2 capsules. Pregnant women may increase the dose to 600 mg (3 capsules). According to the recommendations of the Polish Gynecological Society, pregnant women, whose diet is poor in fish should take at least 500 mg od DHA per day. Supplementation is worth starting from the first month of pregnancy.
Capsules should be taken with a meal containing a good source of fat. It will allow to increase bioavailability of the active substance. It should not be vegetable oil. They contain a lot of omega-6 fatty acids, which slightly inhibit the utilization of all advantages of DHA.
