Cordyceps, less commonly known as Chinese mace, is a fairly popular species of mushroom in Eastern Culture that exhibits anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, tonic, immunomodulatory and hypoglycemic properties. The extensive activity and rich phytochemical composition allow cordycep extracts to be used to strengthen the body and improve its functioning. From a medical point of view, the most significant active compounds of cordycepin are cordycepin and adenosine, but beta-glucans, flavones, phytosterols, vitamins (B1, B12, E, K) and minerals (zinc, selenium, iron, calcium, sodium and potassium) also play a large role.
