Spinacia Oleracea – the taxonomic name for spinach, a common plant valued mainly for the richness of vitamins and minerals. It is a great source for dietary fibre and other health-promoting compounds.

In supplementation, it is used in form of extracts enriching diet with numerous substances. It is characterised by the high content of vitamins C, A and K. It contains also large quantities of biologically active form of folic acid, folate. Supplementation with spinach is recommended for people with methylation disorders. It provides also many minerals, especially magnesium, manganese and iron.

Spinach contains also the compounds called phytoecdysteroids. In the body system, they resemble the action of testosterone, as they promote positive nitrogen balance and stimulate tissue growth. They support also regeneration and accelerate healing of wounds and bone injuries. They can also support immune system functions and optimise carbohydrate metabolism, which prevents diabetes development.
